Regulations and Standards for fishery products : USA
Current Situations
The United States enforces the Hazard Analysis and Critical
Control Point System (HACCP) on all fishery product imports.
HACCP is a self-control system for exporters to monitor their
production process and has many advantages over other systems
because it:
Mainly focuses on food contamination prevention.
Allows government organizations to effectively monitor
product safety as it empowers such organizations to inspect
manufacturers randomly.
Gives authorities in assuring appropriate food safety
standards for manufacturers or dealers.
Even with this system in place, government
officials do randomly sample products for inspections. It
is expected that, in the future, USA will enforce HACCP for
all food products.
