| Thailand is the world's largest producer
of farm-raised shrimp comprising to nearly 33 percent
of the world's shrimp aquaculture production. Other large
producers include China, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh
and Vietnam.
Thai shrimp aquaculture production has grown steadily
during the past few years. Shrimp production grew 40
percent in 1998, 5 percent in 1999, 14 percent in 2000
and 12 percent in 2001.
