Facts : Number and Area
According to the Department of Fisheries,
there were 19,700 farms covering about 65,000 hectares in
1995 while currently there are 35,000 farms spread out in
approximately 80,000 hectares.

Location
Shrimp farms and hatcheries are scattered along the
coastal areas of Thailand. Southern provinces (Nakorn
Sri Thammarat, Surat Thani) account for the majority
while those in the East (Chanthaburi) and Central regions
(Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhran) comprise the minority
in terms of number.

2% are larger than 10 hectares
