in first place with 2,208,000 metric tons. Brazil was second
with 1,425,000 metric tons; Thailand came fourth with 415,000
metric tons of exports, considered the largest in Asia, followed
by China with 400,000 metric tons.

• Major chicken meat importers in 2002: The Russian Federation
(1,220,000 metric tons), Japan (750,000 metric tons) and the
European Union (550,000 metric tons).

• Thailand's major foreign markets and export figures in
2002: Japan and Germany remained the first and the second major
export markets. Japan showed a considerable increase from 156,008,763
tons in 2001 to 1,740,828,958 tons in 2002. Germany also showed
an increase from 47,507,619 tons in 2001 to 171,650,374 tons
in 2002.
