There are three main types of chicken; broilers,
layers, and native chickens. Broilers and

domestic consumer groups.

areas 
Number
of chicken and farming areas in Thailand,
1992-2001: mainly central and northeastern
Thailand. Chicken numbers consistently increased
between 1992 and 2001 (from 135,157,576 to
214,979,081 heads), though slightly dropped
to 111,648,510 in 1995. An increase recurred
in 1996 to 144,579,428 heads.

World
chicken meat exporters in 2002: The US was
still in first place with 2,208,000 metric
tons. Brazil was second with 1,425,000 metric
tons; Thailand came fourth with 415,000
metric tons of exports, considered the largest
in Asia, followed by China with 400,000
metric tons.

chicken meat importers in 2002: The Russian
Federation (1,220,000 metric tons), Japan
(750,000 metric tons) and the European Union
(550,000 metric tons).

Thailand's major foreign markets and export

the first and the second major export markets.
Japan showed a considerable increase from
156,008,763 tons in 2001 to 1,740,828,958
tons in 2002. Germany also showed an increase
from 47,507,619 tons in 2001 to 171,650,374
tons in 2002.
