Import Regulations for Herbs&Spices

 

European Union
A. Import Permit

Description :
An import permit is required only for the importation of prohibited plants into each European Union member countries.

B. Phytosanitary Certificate
Description :
1) The phytosanitary certificate is required for every imported plants and agricultural product. Canned goods and frozen food are exempted.
2) Every plant and agricultural product that falls under the EU Plant Passport list must be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate. Inter-European Union trade is exempted.
C. Importation
General Information :
1) Prohibited products include soil, growing media, barks, peats, humus, and any plant-related organic substances.
2) Restricted products include saccharine, artificial sweetener, and derivative plant species. These products must not be used as ingredients for imported foodstuff.
Fruits & Vegetables Commodities Classes :
Prohibited products include Grapes (Vitis spp.), Citrus family fruits (Citrus spp., Fortunella, Poncitus), and the seeds of Solanum tuberosum potato species.
D. Miscellaneous
Description :
1) Exemptions may apply on a case-by-case basis, only for EU members.
2) Related information may be obtained from the country of destination.
