Based on Thailand's annual rice export volume
to each region of the world, the market share could be derived.
In Asia, where Thailand has its largest export market share
in 1999 comparing with other regions, the share dropped slightly
from 37.3% in 1999 to 29.5% in 2000. This drop may due to
the increase in regional competition and the emerging rice
exporter, such as Vietnam and China. In the African market,
Thai rice has witnessed an increase in the market share from
32.5% to 38.7%. In the Middle East and Europe, Thailand's
market share have slightly increased, while in America and
Oceania, the market share have slightly decreased from 1999
to 2000.
