Volume and Value of Thailand's
Durian Export
Exports usually concentrate around April-June, when crops are
fully harvested in every part of the country. According to The
Office of Agricultural Economics in cooperation with the Customs
Department report 2001, Thai durian export in May stood at 38,395
tons, an increase of 37 per cent compared with 27,921 tons at
the same time last year. Factors of bullish Thai durian export
performance include the growing popularity of durian worldwide,
particularly in Asia, earnest export promotion by government
agencies and good quality control.
