Standard for Coconut Meal or Copra Meal or Oilcake or Pellets as Livestock Feed

1. Scope
  1.1 This standard specifies classes and types, requirements, containers, weights and measures, marking and labelling, sampling and criteria for conformity and analysis for coconut meal as livestock feed.

2. Definitions

For the purposes of this standard the following definitions apply.
  2.1 COCONUT SEAL or COPRA MEAL or OILCAKE or PELLETS AS LIVESTOCK FEED: The by-product obtained after the extraction of oil from copra by hydraulic process or by means of expeller or extraction.
  2.2 FOREIGN MATERIAL: Any other substances apart from the copra meal.

3. Class and type
  3.1 The coconut meal or copra meal as livestock feed shall be classified into 2 classes according to the manufacturing process as follows
3.1.1 Class 1: The product obtained after the extraction of oil from copra by mechanical means such as by the expeller, by hydraulic or rotary method.
3.1.2 Class 2: the 'product obtained after solvent extraction..
  3.2 The copra meal as livestock feed obtained from clause 3.1 shall be physically divided into 3 types as follows
3.2.1 Type 1: Copra cake
3.2.2 Type 2: Copra meal
3.2.3 Type 3: Copra pellet

4. Requirements
  4.1 Odour
The copra meal shall be free from rancidity, adulterants, solvent odour or objectionable odours when examined by smelling.
  4.2 Foreign material
The copra meal shall be free from any foreign material such as insect, fungus, parts of husk, etc.
  4.3 Chemical requirements and others
Apart from the requirements of clauses 4.1 and 4.2, the copra shall have the chemical requirements complying with Table 1.
