Coconut in shell (or peeled): The mature coconut
is oval shaped and has a thick, fibrous outer husk
and a
hard inner shell.
Coconut oil: The oil extracted from or copra.
It is one
of the main products made from the coconut tree.
Coconut milk & cream: It is not the liquid inside
the
coconut or their seed. Coconut milk has made by
combining hot water with fresh grated or packaged
unsweetened coconut. The result is a milky-white
substance with sweet taste.
Coconut powder
Desiccated coconut: It is dried, white, particulate
or shredded food product manufactured
from freshly peeled coconut kernels.
Copra: The dried meat (kernel) of the nut, with
moisture removed by sun-drying, or by artificial
drying.
Copra Meal: It is what remains after oil is
extracted from copra.
Coconut juice (water): The fresh natural liquid
inside the young coconut fruit. A typical refreshing
fruit drink of the South East Asia.
Jelly (Nata de Coco): Almost-clear liquid, naturally
sweetened with cane sugar, with white pieces of
coconut fruit pulp.
Kernel: The lining of the inner shell is a white,
oily meat that is dried to produce the commercially
valuable copra.
Young Coconut Heart: The central part of the
young stem. It is succulent and edible.
The Sap or Toddy: It is tapped from the inflorescences
by means of apposite cutting. It
can either use in the natural
state or after fermentation, which takes place
in a few hours.
Palm wine(arrack): It can be obtained from
the distillation of the fermented sap.
