Soybeans & Soybean Meal Ending Stock
Trends in world soybeans and soybean meal
ending stocks differ quite greatly. While the ending stock
of soybeans shot up from 14.35 to 24.78 million metric tons
or 42 per cent, following the surge in global soybean production
in 1997/98, soybean meal ending stock remained quite flat
at 3.66 million metric tons.

In 1999/00, despite the growth in soybean
and soybean meal production, the ending stock pointed downward
because of increasing demand. The expansion of global poutry
sector contributed to the increase in soybean and soybean
meal usage. As a result, world ending stock continued to
remain stable despite increased production. In 2000/01,
the soybean and soybean meal ending stock will continue
to increase, which implies that the 2001/02 prices will
fall.
